NL-DEL (Delft) Partial power failure in Delft

Due to unforseen events, some of our racks have lost one power feed. Servers which are only connected to one power feed may have experienced a interruption in power.

Currently all racks are back online and everything should return to normal operation.

[FIXED] - Unexpected edge switch reboot

Description of the issue

On the 14th of April 2020, around 21:45 CEST, one of our edge switches has unexpectedly rebooted. It may have resulted in unavailability to (part of) our network and services. At the time of publishing this incident notification, the device returned to its normal state of operations.

Actions

We are currently in contact with the supplier of the affected device.

Together we have initiated an investigation.

Updates

Update 1 (22:31 14/04/2020):

While we are continuing our investigation, based on the information currently available; we ran into a very rare event where a bit in the memory of the switch has flipped and the switch has had to reboot to prevent further damage.

If we can not find a clear explanation as to why this has happened, we will keep monitoring the situation very closely for the forseeable future and return to normal operation.\

Update 2 (22:45 14/04/2020):

After going through the logs from before and after the unexpected reboot of the switch, the conclusion has been drawn that there is no issue with the hardware or software of this switch.

We will keep monitoring the situation very closely. In case the issue recurs, we will have engineers ready to immidiately take action to further reduce the impact.

Network degradation in DCD

Network performance issues have been reported in our data center DCD Doetinchem, we are investigating it now and we will update this post with new information.

During the investigations we have extensively checked our network and traced back the origin of the problem. In this case this meant the issue only meant part of our network (equipment) was not replying to ICMP ECHO packets.

The issue has been resolved and the network is operating normally again, we will closely monitor the situation in order to prevent repetitions of this issue.

NDIX connectivity issues

Our provider NDIX has reported connectivity issues in Enschede. The engineers of NDIX are currently investigating. Only customers with a connection through NDIX in Enschede are affected.

9:52 20-01-2020: NDIX reported that the issue has been resolved.
